Our Concrete Floor Polishing Process
At PDCI, our diamond-polishing process transforms ordinary concrete slabs into high-performance, easy-to-maintain floors. Utilizing state-of-the-art walk-behind machines with rotating diamond-abrasive heads, we remove the surface layer of the concrete and achieve a fine polish, using progressively finer diamond abrasives to refine the polished surface. PDCI performs all of our grinding and polishing dry, that is, without water. We use sophisticated dust collection systems that collect virtually all dust during polishing.
During polishing, we apply sodium, lithium, or potassium silicate to the floor to harden the concrete. The solution is absorbed into the concrete surface, filling the pores. After the silicate infuses into the concrete, it crystallizes in place.
The result is a chemically hardened concrete surface that has been mechanically refined and sealed using diamond abrasives.
